Bakkavor approached Fews to provide temporary buildings for additional socially distanced catering space at four of their sites in the UK.

Bakkavor are the leading provider of fresh prepared food in the UK. Their products are supplied to the UK’s leading grocery retailers and cover a range of categories including meals, desserts, pizza & bread and salads.  The group has over 20,000 employees and operates 23 factories in the UK, 5 in the US and 9 in China.

Customers include Waitrose, M&S, Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

The Fews Solution

Fews delivered a fully managed bespoke turnkey solution to each of the sites ensuring smooth, timely delivery of each project.

We constructed a temporary building at each of the four sites; two 15 metre x 20 metre, one 15 metre x 25 metre, and one 20 metre x 20 metre all on a 3 metre leg – each with similar specifications.  In some locations the temporary buildings were linked to existing permanent buildings.

Each structure had composite panel insulated walls and gables, as well as a composite insulated roof to reflect the long-term nature of their use.  We provided free-standing air conditioning units to control the internal temperature with separate fresh air modules to ensure sufficient air changes per hour.  Fews also installed a stainless-steel kitchenette with back board and hot water supply.

Full electrical systems were installed, eco-efficient automated lighting, power distribution and emergency fittings.
