Ospreys Rugby Temporary Gymnasium
Ospreys Rugby Temporary Gymnasium
When Ospreys Rugby found themselves in need of a temporary gymnasium for their first team squad to train in, they came knocking for our advice and support.
Their regular training base, Llandarcy Academy of Sport, had been taken over as a field hospital during the coronavirus pandemic and the back-up plan was to use St Helens in Swansea, with the generous help of Swansea RFC and Swansea City Council, as a temporary training facility.
The first team squad, packed full of Wales and British Lions internationals including captain Alun Wyn Jones, club captain Justin Tipuric and George North, meant the facilities needed to be up to the mark.
Using a space at the side of the pitch, we constructed a 15m x 25m clear-span Premium structure with curved PVC roof on a 3m leg. To provide a solid and level base we fitted a cassette ring beam floor system with board finish.
Hard PVC walls were fitted all round and access was through a 2.5 metre emergency exit double glass door with access ramp.
In addition, we supplied power and lighting throughout.
It was lovely to get thanks from the commercial team in the form of Wayne Hall, and from rugby royalty Alun Wyn Jones and Justin Tipuric (see video below).
“ Fews Marquees have been absolutely fantastic…the service and facilities were second to none. Ian and Matt – nothing was too much trouble for them to get this facility up and running.”
